I think one thing people don’t realize about rescuing animals is that sometimes your heart says yes… but real life says “girl/sir absolutely not”.
Maybe you already have 4 dogs at home that would lose their minds if you brought home another stray. Maybe you work long shifts and know an animal deserves more time than you can realistically give right now. Maybe your husband is allergic and ruins everything (respectfully). Maybe you rent. Maybe you travel. Maybe you simply don’t have the space to safely separate animals.
And honestly? That’s real life. Rescuing animals takes time, money, patience, cleaning, commitment, quarantining, and sometimes basically becoming a hostage in your own home for a few weeks 😂
That’s part of the vision behind what we are trying to build.
Not just “a shelter,” but a real home for animals. A clean, peaceful, organized, safe place where dogs and cats can decompress, be understood, receive proper care, and finally relax instead of constantly surviving. Because animals feel stress, fear, comfort, peace, and love just like we do—and they deserve clean spaces, routine, enrichment, and dignity while they wait for their forever homes.
We want to create the kind of place people wish existed when they see an animal they want to help but realistically cannot take home themselves.
One of our biggest goals moving forward is helping at-risk dogs and cats from El Paso Animal Services and Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley and beyond —animals who simply need more time, patience, and a safe place to land.
While our permanent sanctuary home is still in the works, we are now in a much better position to begin working more closely with local shelters, rescues, and community members to help save animals in need through foster-based efforts and rescue support.
If you have ever considered fostering an at-risk dog or cat, now is the time. Even temporary fostering can truly save a life and help bridge the gap until our future sanctuary home is ready. We would love for you to reach out to us so we can stay connected, help support you, and work together for the animals who need us most.
Our Daily Pawsitive Routine Program is designed to create a structured, enriching environment that supports the emotional and behavioral well-being of every animal in our care. Built from expert guidance, behavioral insights, and the invaluable resources provided by Best Friends Animal Society, this program focuses on creating a daily rhythm that promotes comfort, confidence, and stability.
Rather than a traditional shelter setting, we aim to provide an environment that feels calm, predictable, and engaging—helping reduce stress and encourage natural behaviors. Each day is thoughtfully structured with a balance of enrichment activities, rest, social interaction, and individualized care based on each animal’s needs.
From mental stimulation and play to quiet time and routine, this program is designed to help animals feel safe, fulfilled, and truly at ease while in our care—supporting not only their well-being, but also their ability to thrive long-term.
